it's that time again....when frens n foes, meet to greet, and eat the meat (rhymed? hehehe) but with few setbacks and we dodoled the tepung after leaving it for almost 30 years!!!

balik kampung....again....

so after shopping here, there and everywhere... it's time to balik kampung for those yang ada kampunglah...yang mat n minah KL, ko duduk lah jaga KL LUMPUR sampai kitaorang balik ok? hehe. Wishing all frens and foes, a safe return journey on the road...by air...or by sea... these are the common conditions during festive seasons, at their peak (before and after the main events)

last saturday we went back to melaka for the funeral of one of our aunties (mak embok) and we stayed until berbuka that day, and...

AL-FATIHAH 1 sept 2005

four years ago today, a dear fren, Allahyarham Azmi Aziz, passed away around 11am.  he had been with cinematic for more than 10 years and had been one of our trusted all-rounder.  one of the most memorable thing about him was he introduced me to lata kinjang which became my favourite spot for my freshwater and fishing activities.  most documentaries, especially the petronas twin towers, were shot by him. a soft spoken kind of guy, he will be missed by family and frens

MERDEKA!!!

for 52 years we've been celebrating Merdeka....apa makna Merdeka??? Merdeka maksudnya...."Merdeka, Tun!" "Ya...Ya...Merdeka....Tragediiiiiii......hehehe (mtar)

the 1st biggest merdeka event i went was in 1973 (i think i was not born yet at that time he he) i think it was sabah's tenth merdeka, under malaysia, and i remember my dad drove us quite fast from tuaran to kk, just to avoid the road closure and we were lucky when we reached likas, the police were in middle of bringing down the barricades from their trucks. so off we went deep into kk n parked inside the city centre.  not much cars actually during those days (as i was told since i was not BORN yet..)  the parade started from tanjung aru and finished near the port ( or was it the other way around?)  and that was the first time i could see really BIG n colourful fireworks right in front of my eyes!!! well it looked big bcos i was not THAT big at that time (remember i was not born yet).  the type of fireworks that we used to see was the 'wedding' fireworks, commonly used by our kampung folks (btw the family that produced these fireworks are still doing it until today, good for documentary students to 'shoot' them!!!).  the last time i went to really watch the parade was in 1987, when my frens and i went to kl (we were staying in shah alam at that time) on the evening of the 30th august and watch the firework that midnite and stayed and talked and talked until the next morning and watch the parade there.  at dawn few of us were a bit too sleepy and one of us almost 'melepaskan perasaan' inside a police mobile van, thinking it was a mobile toilet!!!  i discontinued going to the parades after the 'incident' during the first citrawarna (1989 i think) and merdeka to me, after that, were just mere fireworks....  

1 RAMADHAN 1430 / 22 AUGUST 2009

we had our annual 1st day ramadhan berbuka at pengkalan balak. we were very upset actually with mother for preparing MASAK LEMAK CILI API IKAN SEMILANG (KELI)!!! apakah perasaan anda jika dihidangkan dgn lauk tersebut on the first day of berbuka? tentu geram bukan? hehehe had also some roti jala by asmah n pengat pisang by mama....burp....no wonder semua slow aje nak ke terawih. n we also welcome ADAM, the new kid on the (go)blog

MTAR the sound of music

aswara's biggest event for 2009 has just ended and mak oi letih akak!!! eventhough there were hiccups here and there, the whole thing can be considered a success.  assigned to prepare the background visuals, our team had to endure last minutes changes to the visuals (getting the visuals was another story!!!)  thx to the hardwork of everybody especially the multimedia team, hilang rasa letih tu.  btw some of the action in d pics were merely action aje hehehe
